Kylier Austin Lee Beller-Phillips
His Full Story
One night before getting ready for work I noticed the white part Kylier's eyes was a yellow and his skin looked a yellowish color so when I got off work that morning I made him an appointment with his peditrician. The doctor told us that it was because of the foods Kylier was eating but I asked for blood work because I knew something wasn't right. We did the blood work and when we got the results the nurse told us to get Kylier to Children's Hospital right away because his Liver levels and counts were very abnormal. We did what they said and he recieved a CT scan, Xrays, and more blood tests. We were admitted into the hospital waiting for the results praying the reports were wrong. When they recieved the results they transfered us to the oncology floor and let us know they found a tumor by his liver. The doctor stated they needed to do further testing and do a biobsy of the tumor to see exactly what it is. The next day Kylier went under his first surgery. That itself took 6 long hours. I remember that day so well. As a mom it was so scary and fear and worry flooded my mind. I stayed in the word and did devotionals as much as possible. He made it through and we remained at the hospital waiting for the results. It was about a day or so that went by when they came in and let us know that Kylier had CANCER. Words a parent never wants to hear. They confirmed it was a cancer Embroyal Rhabdomyoscarma. We never even heard of such a thing before. The doctor also informed us that this specific kind wasvery rare and he wasn't born with it just forms from nowhere. They let us know that there was light at the end of the tunnel. My mind was racing in every direction that those words slowed everything down for me and I was thankful for those words in that moment. We discussed his chemotherapy and radiation treatments and so we started that part of our journey. Of course Kylier lost his hair, got sick alot, and complained of lots of tummy pains. Like a champ he did 43 weeks of chemotherapy and about 3 months of radiation. Every visit we did CT scans, finger pokes, and blood drawn. He also had several surgeries for his bilary tube he had placed to drain bio-fluid in his body. It's the waste that goes into your liver and is filtered out through bowels. Kylier named this His Buddy since it was attached to him. After his completion of the treatments we went for some tests to get see how he responded. They told us that his cancer was gone and the only thing they saw was the scar tissue from radiation treatments. We were beyond excited that he beat it in June of 2017. We were due back in a couple months for a check-up and that's when Kylier was diagonsed again with CANCER. We discussed more treatment options and this time because Kylier's age and weight he had already done all the radiation he could. So we began chemo treatments again along with medications to try to help with all the side effects. He had platelet transfusions and many blood transfusions. He also had two bone marrow biopsies. Kylier had been through so much at such a young age. He was so strong through it all. He showed me how to have paitence and peace. Most importantly he showed me God's love for us. It wasn't an accident that I'm his mom. He was the biggest blessing in my life and forever grateful for God allowing me to have him those 4 short years. What a seed that has been planted and growing to life with this foundation in his honor. His name and legacy will live on forever through this foundation. May God water and multiply these seeds for many years!
